Background
Launched in 2024, KUZA has a clear mission: to make African films more accessible and create meaningful connections around these stories. It focuses on building pathways for filmmakers to reach their audiences through improved distribution, marketing, and community-driven experiences.
The Journey So Far
Though still in its early stages, KUZA has already established two key spaces:
- The KUZA Film Club, where movie lovers gather to enjoy and discuss African films.
- The Industry Resource Hub, which supports filmmakers with resources and opportunities for growth.
5th October 2024: The First Screening
KUZA’s journey officially began with a sold-out screening event at Unseen, Nairobi. The program featured a collection of short films from six African countries and the diaspora, showcasing an incredible range of talent and creativity. The event was a resounding success and proved just how essential spaces like these are for amplifying African voices.

16th November 2024: KUZA Konnect
Just a month later, KUZA hosted KUZA Konnect, a lively and informal networking event.
The day included discussions around creative processes, challenges in ongoing projects, and opportunities in African cinema. Later, participants enjoyed casual conversations, games, and activities that added a fun and relaxed vibe. The event brought together a blend of filmmakers, animators, curators, and film enthusiasts, offering a unique chance to share ideas and celebrate creativity.
What’s Next?
As 2025 unfolds, KUZA promises even more—additional screenings, exciting events, and new opportunities for audiences and creators to connect. Stay tuned for what’s ahead!
